College/ healthy alternative breakfast

Hi everyone! I apologize for not posting last week but I've been extremely busy. I am back on my normal schedule and hope you all enjoy the next few posts to come! So, I know in the morning it is easy to skip breakfast and/or have a really unhealthy cereal with some whole milk, or even a pop tart. But please, take the extra five minutes to just eat some breakfast such as eggs, a fruit, and a grain. Typically, I will eat an apple on my walk to class but today, since I had a little more time, I had an omelette, Raisin Bran, and a banana when I will typically have scrambled eggs and pepper.

As for the healthy alternative, what I mean is that instead of a sugary cereal such as froot loops or pop tarts, you can have Raisin Bran which helps with gut health as well as a banana or apple for natural sugars, rather than processed sugars. Trust me when I say that making and eating scrambled eggs can take only 10 minutes since scrambled eggs cook fairly quickly and they are quick to eat. Think about these small 10 minutes next time you stop at McDonalds for an egg sandwich or grab a pop tart to granola bar for "breakfast." As I have said numerous times in many posts, breakfast is the most important meal of the day because it gets you started for the day as well as changes your outlook on the day. If you have a routine every day, it really helps to relieve stress because all you have to think about is how well you are going to get through the day.
In my omelette, I got spinach and cheddar cheese, which covers the vegetable portion of the food plate and the cheese and milk from the cereal which covers the dairy section. The egg covers the protein section and the Raisin Bran covers the grain section. So there you have it, in one meal that doesn't have a lot of components, I was able to get all of my food groups in.

While you are taking out some of the nutrients, you are actually able to get a lot of calcium and the nutrients taken out through other common foods that everyone eats on a daily basis. Below I also posted the Myplate. Please do not feel obligated to have every sector covered in every meal. Not many people eat their food separately anymore so just try to keep track of what you are eating every meal.

So thank you so much for reading my blog and I hope you enjoyed this week's post!! Make sure to follow me on Instagram @jenuinenutrition_ to keep updated with when I post. Thanks so much and I hope to see you all in the next post!!
